Mary Pless MORGANTON Mary K. Pless, 87, of Morganton, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, while at the Burke Hospice and Palliative Care Center. Born Sept. 6, 1926, in Burke County, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Willard Pless and Sarah Annie Causby Pless. Ms. Pless was a lifelong member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Morganton, where she served in the choir and was a member of the WMU and the Welcome Sunday School Class. Ms. Pless served as an inspector at Morganton Hosiery. Ms. Pless leaves behind to cherish her memory a sister, Helen Parris of Morganton; a brother, William Pless, of Morganton; three sisters-in-law, Shirley Pless, of Lenoir, Nell Pless and Relda Pless, both of Morganton; and host of nieces and nephews will also cherish her memory. Funeral services for Ms. Pless will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7, at the Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery, Morganton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services, at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church, 407 S. Green St., Morganton, NC 28655 or to Burke Hospice & Palliative Care Inc., 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC 28690.
