Kelli Huggins is the new wellness manager at the Grace Ridge Retirement Community.

Kelli Huggins has been promoted to wellness manager of the Grace Ridge Retirement Community in Morganton.

Huggins will be responsible for managing resident programs and independent living activities. She will lead the development and implementation of the wellness culture that encourages and assists in achieving maximum health of the whole person through mind, body and spirit. She will be responsible for the development and maintenance of all wellness objectives, standards of practice, and policies.

“My job is to help improve our residents’ overall well-being and quality of life,” says Huggins. “In 2019, we will be putting a major focus on encouraging residents to be more physically active and engaged and educate them on how to build healthier habits for a long, happy retirement.”

Grace Ridge has a variety of programs that help keep residents active, healthy and having fun. Through its affiliation with Carolinas HealthCare System Blue Ridge, residents can participate in year-round wellness seminars and programs that lead to better senior health. Tai Chi, Ageless Grace, Strength and Balance, and Yoga are just a few of the most popular classes at Grace Ridge.

Huggins earned a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership and an associate ’ s degree in recreational therapy. She is a licensed recreational therapy assistant and certified in Tai Chi for arthritis and fall prevention from the Tai Chi for Health Institute. She is also an Ageless Grace Certified Educator.

Huggins enjoys walking, running, spending time with family, camping at Lake James and watching Clemson football. She is currently finishing up her first year at Clemson University to receive her master’s degree in public administration, with plans to graduate in 2020. She has worked at Grace Ridge for 12 years and intends to add value and lead by example to continue to positively impact the Grace Ridge community.
