Pictured is Nspire, the band that will perform this weekend's TGIF concert in downtown Morganton.

Nspire is an inspirational band that will have guests grooving to the music this Friday, July 12, for the next TGIF concert.

Folks are invited to bring a chair or blanket and enjoy this free performance on the Historic Burke County Courthouse Square lawn. Food and beverage vendors open at 6 p.m. offering a selection of dining and drink options. Then, music starts at 7 p.m. In addition to all the great music and food, guests are invited to come out to another TGIF cruise-in. Cruise-ins are produced by the Morganton Motor Club.

The energetic group's repertoire includes jazz, old-school, go-go, R&B, pop, beach and inspirational music. Guests will be Nspired by the band.

The seven-member band was formed by veteran musician/songwriter Freddie Morrison. Morrison performed professionally for many years as bass guitarist for the Reggie Saddler Revue and Beach Music Hall of Fame group Janice. The Janice band recorded with the Fantasy and Delite (Kool and the Gang) record labels and released a very popular song, “I Told You So”.

Morrison performed up and down the eastern seaboard and spent several years living and performing on the west coast. While living in Los Angeles, the band played venues like Disneyland, Lake Tahoe, Reno and Las Vegas (opening act for comedian/actor Redd Foxx), as well as touring Europe and performing in Tokyo with the band War and Patti Page.

The other members of Nspire are Donnie Propst, Mickey Floyd, Brandon Carr, Derone McNeil, Daniel Kondas and Nickey Mott.
