The Morganton Women’s Club, a chapter of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, hosted the GFWC North Carolina District II Art Festival on Feb. 15 at First Baptist Church of Morganton. Clubs in attendance were North Wilkesboro, Caldwell, Hickory, Hickory Jr., and Statesville. The Art Festival competition included crafts, visual arts, photography, literature and Artfest, as well as the Sallie Southall Cotton Scholarship student competition for high school seniors from the district. Carol Watts, president of District II, presided over the events of the day. The festival was honored to have Anne Landis, the GFWC North Carolina president, in attendance. The celebration included 33 members and 18 guests. This year, the GFWC Morganton Club will celebrate 100 years as part of the federation.
