The crowds turned out on Friday night to kick cancer’s butt at the annual Burke County Relay for Life. The event was held at the Drexel Fairgrounds and hosted many different organizations, churches and groups that formed teams to raise money for Relay for Life. Each group was selling either baked goods, crafts or other items along the track to raise funds for cancer research. Luminaries purchased were placed along the outline of the track and lighted up the night sky in honor or memory of those who have or are being affected by cancer. Cancer survivors in attendance started off the event with a lap around the track in their honor.
