A person was killed in a wreck involving a motorcycle Sunday.

The wreck happened just above mile marker 21 on N.C. 181 when a motorcycle driven by a 25-year-old crossed the center line and hit a Ford F-150, said Trooper D.R. Lane with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

The driver of the motorcycle was ejected from the bike, and the bike was torn in half in the crash, Lane said. It caught fire, leading the truck to catch fire, Lane said.

The motorcycle driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The people in the truck were able to escape, but lost all of their belongings in the fire, including their wallets and cellphones, Lane said.

More information will be published as it becomes available.
