Shoppers visit a store during a past Small Business Saturday event in downtown Morganton.

Two of downtown Morganton’s signature shopping events — Small Business Saturday and FAB Crawl — will come together Nov. 30.

The next installment of the event celebrating downtown’s FAB — food, art and brews — along with all the other shops in the city’s central business district, will merge into Small Business Saturday, an initiative in which Morganton has participated the past few years, to celebrate those homegrown businesses.

“The Small Business FAB Crawl will highlight 29 locally owned downtown businesses,” said Abby Nelson, the marketing and events coordinator for the Morganton Main Street Department. “I am thrilled to have such strong participation with our business community for this event and invite the public to support them by shopping downtown for Small Business Saturday.”

According to a press release from Main Street, shoppers can take a ride on the Ridgeline Trolley or stroll around downtown to shop and participate in the event, which will last from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Discounts, giveaways, music and more await all FAB Crawlers. Participants are encouraged to pick up a punch card and map at their first stop.

Each business will provide crawlers a card to get punched at each business visited. Crawlers can visit participating businesses and enter for a chance to win prizes. Five winners will receive $200 in Downtown Bucks. There is an opportunity to win after visiting just 10 or more businesses. There is no cost to participate in the punch-card event.
