Wrestlers battle each other in a match held during last year's fundraiser.

Austin Freeman, 10, will present his second pro-wresting benefit fundraiser this weekend.

Freeman, a student at Glen Alpine Elementary School, held his first wrestling show fundraiser last year, sponsored by Michael Elliott, owner of the North American Wrestling Alliance and family friend. Participants were asked to bring nonperishable food items for Burke United Christian Ministries.

“We’ve tried to be more aware about teaching him a little empathy and about giving back,” said his father, Jason Freeman. “He enjoyed it last year.”

The show, presented in partnership with NAWA, will take place at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Burke County Fairgrounds. Doors will open at 3 p.m. The event is free to attend, but visitors are asked to bring new, unwrapped toys for Toys for Tots.

Jason said six matches will take place featuring the following wrestlers:

» King Craig Classic.

» Johnny Ryder.

» Burke County Boys.

» Golden Gladiator.

» Adam James.

» Thomas Extreme.

The matches will be filmed and posted on NAWA’s YouTube channel.

Jason encouraged people to attend to support his son’s fundraiser.

“Come out and bring what you can,” he said. “If you can’t, don’t worry about it — just come on anyway.”
