In honor of June being National Homeownership Month, the Olive Hill Community Economic Development Corporation, Inc. will offer a free “Super Saturday” home buyer resource fair from 9:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, at New Day Christian Church at 1023 E. Union St. in Morganton. The fair is open to all residents of Burke, Caldwell, Catawba and McDowell counties.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development created the month-long holiday to “mark the importance of owning a home and the impact it has on the lives of American families, local neighborhoods and to the nation’s economic health,” according to a flyer advertising the event.
Locally, Morganton Mayor Ronnie Thompson recently issued a proclamation declaring June as National Homeownership Month in the city of Morganton.
“The Olive Hill Community Economic Development Corporation offers opportunities for residents to explore the tools and resources available to help reach the important milestone of homeownership,” the Olive Hill Community Economic Development Corporation said in a press release. “Our housing counselors make great efforts to help residents/families overcome barriers and accomplish their dream, offering monthly group classes and one-on-one counseling to achieve their goal.”
OHCEDC is a nonprofit, HUD-approved housing counseling agency whose mission is to assist people who qualify with all aspects of purchasing a home.
