Freedom High School has announced its 2019 homecoming court participants. The parade will be Thursday, Oct. 10, at 3:15 p.m. in downtown Morganton. Participants are:

Daliyha Burgess, who is the daughter of Brandon and Keisha Watson. While at Freedom, she has participated in Spirit Club, HOSA, Patriot Unified, Psychology Club, Interact Club, Salt and Light Club, and has cheered for three years. After graduation, Daliyha plans to attend Appalachian State University and pursue a degree in criminal justice. She will be escorted by Tay Lowdermilk, son of Shatemia Largent.

Burgess

Riley Carswell, who is the daughter of Matt and Heather Carswell. While at Freedom, she has participated in four years of varsity soccer, four years of varsity swimming, three years of varsity cross-country, chamber singers, Anchor Club, National Honors Society, and is the student body treasurer. After graduation, she plans to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and pursue a career in medicine. Riley will be escorted by Kai Hawkins, son of Seth and Kelly Hawkins.

Carswell

Savannah Collins, who is is the daughter of Steve and Tammie Collins.While at Freedom, Savannah has participated in chorus. After graduation, she plans to attend the University of North Carolina at Asheville and pursue a degree in art. She will be escorted by Thomas Dove, son of Paul and Rebecca Dove.

Lillie Epley, who is the daughter of Russell and Shanda Epley. While at Freedom, Lillie has held the position of SGA class president, and is the student body president. She also has participated in Spirit Club, Chamber Singers, the Blue Ridge Scholar Program, H.O.S.A., the National Honors Society, International Club, is the Anchor Club vice president, and has kept scorebook for the men’s basketball and lacrosse teams. When Lillie graduates, she plans to attend a four-year university and pursue a career in neonatology. Lillie will be escorted by Bradley Davis, son of Chris Davis and Regina Huntley.

Katera Frazier, who is the daughter of Shea and Donna Allred. While at Freedom, she has participated in varsity cheerleading, chorus, Psychology Club, Interact Club, Salt and Light Club and Spirit Club. After graduation, Katera plans to attend a four-year university and pursue a degree in human services with a minor in psychology. She will be escorted by Kevin Vasquez, son of Pedro Vasquez and Viviana Ceron.

Jayda Glass, who is the daughter of Joe and Holly Glass. While at Freedom, Jayda has participated in varsity basketball. After high school, she plans to attend North Greenville University to continue her basketball career and pursue a degree in medicine. She will be escorted by Hunter Keller, son of Dusty and Ashley Keller.

Jasmine Hunt, who is the daughter of Alton and Dena Hunt. While at Freedom, she has participated in marching band, International Club, Anchor Club, National Honor Society, swim, and one year of track. After graduation, she plans to attend a four year university and pursue a career in pharmacy. Jasmine will be escorted by her brother, Austin Hunt.

Morgan Maynor, who is the daughter of Phillip and Katherine Maynor. While at Freedom, she has participated in Anchor Club, Spirit Club and four years of varsity softball. After high school, she plans to attend Western Carolina University and pursue a degree in elementary education. Morgan will be escorted by Daniel Brackett, son of Scott and Danette Brackett.

Makayla Moore, who is the daughter of Billy Moore and Annette Holder. While at Freedom, she has participated in varsity basketball, track and field and Spirit Club. After high school, she plans to attend Milligan College and pursue a degree in interior design. She will be escorted by Titus Twitty, son of Titus and Jayda Twitty.

Saniah O’Neil, who is the daughter of Helther O’Neil and granddaughter of Frankie O’Neil. While at Freedom, she has participated in JROTC, Anchor Club, varsity basketball and track. After graduation, she plans to attend N.C. Central University and pursue a career as an Air Force JAG attorney. Saniah will be escorted by Kejhion Johnson, son of Shannon Johnson and Latemia O’Neil.

O’Neil

Hannah Ward, who is the daughter of Tracy and Christine Ward. While at Freedom, Hannah has participated in student council as junior and senior class president, Chamber’s Choir, Patriot Unified Champions Club, Salt and Life Club, Drama Club, FFA, Anchor Club and National Honors Society. After graduation, she plans to attend Appalachian State University to pursue a degree in vocal music studies. She will be escorted by Sanath Hegde, son of Sanjay and Vidya Hegde.

Charlie Yelton, who is the daughter of Greg and Candy Yelton. While at Freedom, she has participated in varsity soccer, varsity swimming, varsity cross-country, HOSA, Anchor Club, is the vice president of International Club, Interact Club, Csychology Club, student body secretary, National Honor Society, Spirit Club, Salt and Light Club and chorus. After graduation, she plans to attend Wake Forest University and pursue a career in the medical field. She will be escorted by Ben Tolbert, son of Mark and Danah Tolbert.

The homecoming queen will be announced at halftime during the Freedom and Alexander Central football game on Friday, which begins at 7:30 p.m.
