LENOIR — Police in Caldwell County are investigating multiple overdoses, including one overdose death, from Memorial Day weekend.
The Lenoir Police Department received reports of seven overdose victims over the weekend at six different locations between Saturday and Monday, according to a recent LPD news release.
On Sunday, police responded to a home on Maple Place in Lenoir where there were two overdose victims, including Christopher Dorian Ducker, 44, of 223 Maple Place, who died at the scene from an apparent overdose, the release said.
Illicit drug use is suspected in most of the overdoses, but it still is too early in the investigation to identify specific substances, the release said.
Investigators still are working to determine if the overdoses were related and to what extent, the release said. LPD Chief Brent Phelps said overdoses are becoming too common nationwide.
“These incidents are concerning and we are dedicating a large part of our manpower and resources into these investigations,” Phelps said. “Our folks continue to work diligently fulfilling law enforcement’s role in combatting substance abuse for this community.”
Anyone with information relating to this or any other crime is asked to contact the Lenoir/Caldwell County Crime Stoppers at 828- 758-8300 or the Lenoir Police Department at 828- 757-2100.
