LENOIR — Local and federal authorities are investigating threats made against Caldwell County Schools.

The threats from an out-of-state social media account started to surface around midnight Monday, according to a press release from the school system.

CCS Public Information Officer Libby Brown said the threatening messages directed to the school system “particularly” concern Hudson Middle School.

Local law enforcement agencies are working closely with federal authorities to investigate the threats, but law enforcement said there is no imminent danger to students and the messages do not appear to be credible threats, the release said.

CCS students had Monday off as a professional development day for faculty and staff, but will return to classes Tuesday, the release said. Additional law enforcement presence may be seen on or around school campuses.
