VALDESE — According to the Duke Energy Power Outage map, there are approximately 2,000 customers without power in the Valdese area. The outage was first reported around 4:55 p.m.

Crews have been dispatched and the estimated time of repair is 8:30 p.m., said information from Duke Energy.

The power outage is impacting traffic in the area along U.S. 70, according to a Facebook post from Triple Community Fire Department.

If a traffic light is out, the intersection should be treated like a four-way stop unless a traffic control officer is directing traffic, according to N.C. General Statute 20-158 (b)(6).

Attempts to contact Duke Energy to find out why the outage happened were unsuccessful.
