DREXEL Charles Allen Williams, 88, went to be with the Lord Friday, June 7, 2019, after following a period of declining health. Born June 30, 1930, in Berwind, W.Va., he was the son of the late Floyd and Bessie Mae Williams. Mr. Williams was a retired veteran of the U.S. Air Force of 21 years. He served his country during the Korean conflict and Vietnam Era. After his retirement from the Air Force he started a painting business in Tucson, Ariz. In 2011, he moved from Tucson with his wife, Glenda to their residence in Drexel. He and his wife, Glenda attended Praise Worship Assembly of God of Glen Alpine. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa Williams; and his four brothers and three sisters. Surviving in addition to his wife, Glenda Williams of Drexel, are his four daughters, Margaret Lowell and her husband, Edwin, Cheryl Moore, Deborah Williams, Charlotte Williams and his former spouse and mother of his children, Gladys Williams, all residing in Tucson, Ariz; one sister, Betty Johnson and her husband, Jimmy, of Pineville, W. Va., and Ronald Williams and his wife, Bonnie, of High Point; six grandchildren, Charles Lowell, David Lowell, Samantha Moore, Chad Stough, Jami Newburn, Melissa Hawkins and 12 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials in honor of Charles be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, 1721 Enon Rd., Morganton, NC 28655.
