A Morganton man will spend three to five years behind bars after he pleaded guilty to taking indecent liberties with children.
Omar Christian Regino Vera, 35, of Morganton, entered a guilty plea to two charges of taking indecent liberties with children in Burke County Superior Court on Monday, according to a release from District Attorney Scott Reilly’s Office.
Vera committed sex acts on two female children, ages 8 and 11, in April 2016, according to the release.
Once Vera is released from prison, he will be required to register as a sex offender for 30 years, and he will be deported, the release said.
The case was investigated by Melanie Robinson for the Burke County Sheriff’s Office, and Assistant District Attorney Michelle Lipper prosecuted the cases.
