A local police officer was rushed to the hospital and is being transferred across the state for treatment after suffering a medical emergency during a call.

The Morganton Department of Public Safety officer’s identity and the nature of the medical emergency has not been announced, based on a Thursday Facebook post from MDPS.

“To our families and citizens of Morganton, tonight our department is requesting prayers from everyone who is willing for an officer that suffered a medical emergency during a call tonight,” the post read. “Our officer is being transported by EMS across the state for treatment and updates will be posted when they become available.”

More information will be published as it becomes available.
