CONNELLY SPRINGS — A woman faces drug charges after a traffic stop earlier this month.
Alice Gibson, 22, of 8869 N.C. 18 S, was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance in prison/jail premises and misdemeanor possession of Alprazolam on July 9, according to a release from the Burke County Sheriff’s Office.
Gibson was charged after deputies stopped a car that didn’t have its headlights on travelling toward U.S. 70 on Shady Grove Road, the release said. During the investigation, deputies discovered a possible controlled substance on Gibson that was later identified as Alprazolam, the release said.
She was placed under arrest, leading deputies to find another substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine, the release said.
She was served with those two charges, but once she was taken to Burke-Catawba District Confinement Facility, an additional controlled substance was found on Gibson, leading to another charge against her, the release said.
Gibson’s bond was set at $30,000 secured with a court date set for July 31, the release said.
