MARION — A traffic stop in Marion led to the arrest of Valdese man wanted in Burke County, authorities said Thursday.
Deputy Aaron Vallini of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Michael William Cook, 44, address listed as Valdese, with possession of methamphetamine.
Cook also was served with outstanding warrants from Burke County.
Shortly after 3 a.m. on Wednesday, May 1, Vallini stopped a vehicle on Sugar Hill Road for traffic violations. He found Cook driving and learned that he was wanted in Burke.
A search of the vehicle by authorities and K-9 Marsoc of Marion Police Department yielded .20 gram of methamphetamine.
Cook was held on a $25,000 bond.
