DREXEL — Natural conditions led to a wastewater spill into Propst Creek on Saturday night.
The amount of untreated wastewater discharged during the event is unknown, according to a public notice from the town of Drexel. It started at around 9 p.m. Saturday and lasted about four hours.
The spill came from the town’s holding tank and bar screen at the 524 Bryant Road pump station, with the water spilling into Propst Creek, the notice said. Propst Creek is part of the Catawba River Basin.
