MORGANTON James Andrew "Andy" Branch Sr., 69, of Morganton, passed away Friday, Dec. 27, 2019, after a period of declining health. James was born the son of the late Albert "Jack" Branch and Lillie Mae Powell Branch Nov. 23, 1950, in Burke County. Along with his parents, James was preceded in death by a son, James Andrew Branch Jr.; and brother, David Branch. James loved the outdoors and sitting on the front porch during sunny days. He enjoyed going to the flea market, listening to gospel music, surfing the web and playing computer games. James had a wonderful heart and loved helping others. He will be greatly missed. Those left behind to cherish James' memory include six children, Todd Branch and wife, Augusta; Vickie Sketoe, Amy Hill, Mary Ann Rhyne and her significant other, Jeff, Sheila Nivens and husband, Eddie, and Kathy Branch and her significant other, John; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce Cook; and brother, Phil Branch and wife, Lynn; and a special friend, Betty Tanner. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 2, 2020, in the Chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Vanbuskirk officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, one hour prior to the service. The family suggests memorial be made to The American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 15829 Arlington, VA 22215; or the charity of one's choice. Kirksey Funeral Home of Morganton has the honor of serving the family.
