HUDSON Austin Skyler Fanis, 29, of Hudson, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte. He was born April 1, 1990, in Lake County, Fla., to Victor V. Fanis and Cynthia J. Jones. He was preceded in death by all of his great-grandparents; and his grandfather, Dick Jones, lovingly known as "Pappap" by all. Mr. Fanis attended Hudson Middle School where he played football for the Hornets. He graduated from South Caldwell High School with honors, where he also proudly played football and wrestled for the SCHS Spartans. He went on to attend CCC&TI where he graduated as a science major with honors. He was employed at Kroehler Furniture in Claremont as an upholster. Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Cindy Jones, and his grandmother, Janie Jones, both of Hudson; two uncles, Larry and Chuck Jones; cousins, Missy, Amber, Kelly, Liz, Tyler, and Travis and their families. A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, Aug. 17, at 4 p.m., at Bethel Colony of Mercy conducted by Pastor Paul Pruitt and Pastor Paul Kidd. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made to Bethel Colony of Mercy, 1675 Bethel Colony Rd., Lenoir, NC 28645.
