CONNELLY SPRINGS Mr. Patrick "Pat" Joseph Gantt, 71, of Connelly Springs, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2019, at Burke Hospice and Palliative Care following a period of declining health. Pat was born March 7, 1948, in Catawba County to the late William Darnell Gantt Sr. and Hazel Reynolds Gantt. He retired from the Burke County Sheriff's Department as a jailer and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Casey Nicole Gantt; and multiple aunts and uncles. Survivors include his son, Stoney Gantt and wife, Tiffany, of Connelly Springs; daughters, Savannah Benfield and husband, Kyle, of Connelly Springs, and Holly Coffey and husband, Neal, of Rutherford College; two brothers, William Darnell Gantt and wife, Peggy, of Connelly Springs and Donald Gantt and wife, Lisa, of Fuquay-Varina; and grandchildren, Zach Coffey, Mason Coffey, Jaxson Benfield, Tucker Gantt, Landon Langley, and Dawson Langley. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, May 16, in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, with the Rev. Mark Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John's Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors presented by the NC National Guard. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 15, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Heritage Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, 1721 Enon Rd., Valdese, NC 28690; or to Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301 Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
