MORGANTON Andrew Ervin Hennessee, 83, a loving husband, Dad, Paw Paw, and Great-Paw Paw, passed away Sunday, Sept. 1, 2019, at home with his family by his side. He was the son of Millard Tate Hennessee Sr. and LaMere Kincaid Hennessee. He was a member of Oak Hill United Methodist Church and leader of the mission team for several years. He was Chief of the Burke County Rescue Squad for 15 years. Being the leader of these dedicated volunteers, they became one of the state's top rescue squads, of which he was very proud. He loved laughter and telling and listening to jokes pulled on the squadsmen and mission team. Ervin spent 22 years with Skyland Textile until the plant closing. He retired from Sara Lee Corporation with 23 years of service. After retirement he loved to travel, spend time with his family, and lend a hand to anyone who needed his help. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, Patsy Clay Hennessee; sons, Mick Hennessee (Shari), Phil Hennessee (Diane); daughter, Phyllis Wright (David); grandchildren, Jason Wright (Whitney), Matt Wright (Lia), Andy Hennessee (Holly), Mikey Hennessee (Tabitha), Josh Hennessee (Jennifer), McKayla Hennessee, Mason Hennessee; great-grandchildren, Cole, Luke, Elli, Paige, Parker, Meghan, Briar; stepgrandchildren, Emily, Sam, Kate, Riley, Cameron; sister, Lena Cooper; sister-in-law, Julie Hennessee; and special goddaughter, Betsy Steele. Preceding Ervin in death are his parents; sisters, Elsie Houser, Catherine King; and brothers, M. T., Fred, and Carl Hennessee. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 4, at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 5, at Oak Hill United Methodist Church with the Revs. David Beam and Paul Mace officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
