CONNELLY SPRINGS Preacher Harold Lee Kanupp, with eyes fixed on heaven, made his triumphant transition to be with our Savior Sunday, Aug. 11, 2019. Throughout his life, he served his family, his country, but most importantly his Heavenly Father. Regarded as a "simple man", he touched lives of many people throughout his ministry and willingness to help others. He was selfless, lived to please God and tried to allow God to order his steps. He was a great example of a man that followed God, and there is no doubt his legacy followed him to Heaven. Harold was born March 27, 1933, in Catawba County, to the late Garfield Harold Kanupp and Mamie Rich Kanupp Speagle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Iris Ann Overweg; brother, Gerald Ray Kanupp; and infant sister, Jeanette Kanupp. Survivors include his wife, Doris Lail Kanupp, of the home; sons, Travis Dwayne Kanupp and wife, Janice Huffman Kanupp, and Kevin Lee Kanupp and wife, Janet Carswell Kanupp; grandchildren, Shasta Sutphin and husband, Caleb, Stormi Bingham and husband, Michael, Stoney Kanupp and wife, Stephanie, Lynn Kanupp and wife, Whitney, and Leslee Kanupp; great-grandchildren, Case Sutphin, Cruz Sutphin, Cricket Sutphin, Ridge Bingham, Parker Kanupp, Cambrie Kanupp, Sawyer Kanupp, and Baylee Kanupp; and sisters, Maxine Hildebran and Katherine Crawley and husband, Floyd. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 14, at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Stoney Kanupp officiating. Interment will follow at Warlicks United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends today (Tuesday, Aug. 13), from 6 to 8 p.m., at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.
