VALDESE Early Saturday morning, Nov. 23, 2019, our loving Savior came to get our beloved Betty Jean Kincaid and take her to the place He prepared for her in heaven. Our dear sister, aunt, and friend to many was born May 16, 1930, to the late William Alexander Kincaid Sr. and Essie Johnson Kincaid Forney in Valdese. Betty grew up in Burke and Caldwell counties with her siblings. She graduated from Olive Hill High School in 1949. At an early age, Betty joined Mount Zion Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member until her health and mobility declined. She was a member of the Missionary Circle. Betty never married and bore no children of her own. However, she was devoted to her family which included her mother, siblings, and her many nieces and nephews. She provided care and support to all. She often brought clothing and handed a, "little piece of change," as gifts and tokens of her love. We all knew that we were her pride and joy. As a part of her working career, Betty was the housekeeper and care giver to the family of Dr. and Mrs. Miles Hudson and their three children, Sharon, Susan, and Miles Jr. She was a much loved member of their family. The decades-long loving relationship with the Hudson children remained at the time of her death. Betty also worked at Valdese Manufacturing for many years, where she retired and continued to be in touch with the many persons with whom she worked. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, James and William Kincaid Jr. and Charlie Forney; and sisters, Viola and Wilma Kincaid, Nona Witherspoon, Essie Raye Kincaid, Helen Craft, Ruby Ervin, Nettie Forney, Alice Forney, and Bert Taylor. Betty leaves to cherish her memory, her sisters, Dorothy Hawkins and Anne Ramseur. A host of nephews, nieces, and a circle of friends will also miss her kindred spirit and loving nature. Betty Jean Kincaid served her family, community, and friends with generous and unselfish acts of kindness. We will miss her dearly. May her soul rest in eternal peace. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 7, at Mount Zion Baptist Church, with the Rev. Kenneth B. Falls officiating. Interment in the Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery will follow the service. The family will receive friends at the church from 2 to 3 p.m., prior to the service. A guestbook and obituary is available at www.heritagefuneralservices.com. Heritage Funeral Service and Crematory is serving the Kincaid family.
