Ted Samuel Reece Sr. DREXEL Mr. Ted Samuel Reece Sr., 86, of Drexel, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at his residence following a period of declining health. Ted was born Nov. 7, 1932, in Burke County to the late Buford T. Reece and Viola M. Lowman. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in Korea, and was a retired food inspector for the USDA, working for them for over 30 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Reba Parise. Survivors include his wife, Lorene Buff Reece of the home; one son, Ted Reece Jr. and wife, Deborah, of Morganton; two brothers, Leonard Reece of Valdese and Larry Reece of Pawley's Island, S.C.; three sisters, Phyllis Ross of Valdese, Charlotte Rorie of Lexington, and Bonnie Turnbull of Hickory. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Sunday, June 16, at 3 p.m., in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, with Wanda Skillbread and Jim Holt officiating. Entombment with military honors will follow at the Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Sunday, from 2 to 3 p.m., at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese.
