May 15, 1991 - January 16, 2020 We are deeply saddened to share the loss of our precious son, Garrett Marcus Wade, 28, who passed away Thursday, Jan. 16, 2020, in the mountains of Fairplay, Colo., as a result of hypothermia. Born May 15, 1991, he was the son of Dr. Scott and Mrs. (Sandra and Scott) Wade. Garrett graduated from Freedom High School in Morganton, in 2009, and attended Western Carolina University. Throughout his life, Garrett was known for his big heart and compassion for others. He loved everyone and everyone loved him back. His laughter and beautiful smile would light up a room each time he entered. Garrett taught us a lot about life mostly how to love others easily and freely. He was a great athlete excelling in all sports, especially football, where he played linebacker and was a long snapper. We are fortunate that we will be able to hear his laughter and see his kindness and sense of humor through his precious son, Tucker Avery Wade. Garrett's life will always be cherished by his parents, Dr. Scott and Sandra Wade; his loving sister, Whitney Wade and Perry Milligan, and their son, Lincoln Wade Milligan; paternal grandparents, Gale and Barbara Wade; Tucker's Mom, Nikki Huntley; aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who made his life even more special. Garrett is sharing heaven with his maternal grandparents, Marcus and Jennie Vaughan; Uncle Wayne McPherson; and countless other angels who arrived ahead of him. To everyone who loved Garrett, we thank you. A celebration of Garrett's life will be held Saturday, March 7, at 1 p.m., in the fellowship hall of the First Presbyterian Church in Morganton with Pastor Steve Eason officiating. In lieu of flowers, please consider making memorial contributions to Justice Takes Flight, 103 North Birch, Yuma, Colorado 80759; or No Longer Bound, 2725 Pine Grove Rd., Cumming, Georgia 30041.
