VALDESE Ms. Gloria Dianne Williams, 82, of Valdese, was an "Angel in training" that gained her wings Monday, Aug. 5, 2019, at Autumn Care of Drexel, following a period of declining health. Gloria was born Oct. 22, 1936, in Mecklenburg County, to the late Richard McNeil Williams and Sarah Griffin Williams. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Morganton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, William Nelson Craig II, and Jeffrey David Craig; and brothers, Richard McNeil Williams, and Charles Phillip Williams. Survivors include her daughters, Kimbralee McCarter and husband, Dean, of Valdese, and Lynne Shelton and husband, Mike, of Waverly, Tenn.; grandchildren, Tresa McCarter, Merry McCarter-Cook, Russell McCarter, Matthew McCarter, Sarah Craig, Meghan Shelton, Courtney Shelton, Jenni Shelton, Alisha Craig-Barnette, and William Nelson "Trey" Craig III; 19 great-grandchildren; sister, Kay Bartlett; and her church family. A memorial service will be held Thursday, Aug. 8, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Service. An online guestbook and obituary is available at www.heritagefuneralservices.com.
