East Burke boys soccer senior forward Micah Chrisco is The News Herald’s Farm Bureau high school county athlete of the week for games played Sept. 30 to Oct. 5.

Chrisco had three late goals, which marked his first-ever hat trick, as the Cavaliers defeated county and conference rival Patton for the first time in 10 head-to-head meetings on the road Wednesday, 4-2. Chrisco provided the go-ahead score in the 68th minute and tacked on goals again in the 72nd and 75th minutes.

He also had a goal in Monday’s 4-2 Northwestern Foothills 2A Athletic Conference loss at home to West Iredell. The performances put Chrisco up to 11 goals and seven assists for the season.

The News Herald will award an athlete of the week for all sports throughout the year.
