GAMEWELL — A 14-7 third-quarter advantage pushed the Draughn JV boys basketball team from a two-point halftime lead out to an advantage of nine, and the visitors held on for a 47-40 win on Tuesday evening at West Caldwell.
Brayden Schutt and Matt Reep led the JV Wildcats (7-3, 4-0 Northwestern Foothills 2A Conf.) with 13 points apiece, and Luke Rector joined them in double figures with 10.
EB 71, Foard 46
The JV Cavaliers (6-4, 4-0 NWFAC) overcame a six-point deficit after one quarter in a big way Tuesday in Newton, outscoring the Tigers but at least seven in each subsequent quarter to win going away and set up a first-place showdown at home with rival Draughn on Friday.
East Burke had four double-figure scorers: Ian Cox (18 points), Carter Crump (16), Jadon Cooke (11) and Logan Coffey (10).
Bunker Hill 51, Patton 49
The JV Panthers (1-11, 1-3 NWFAC) nearly rallied from 10 down after the first 7 minutes but were edged Tuesday in Claremont. DeShawn Cantrell-Vazquez scored a team-high 20 points for Patton while Braden Vance added 12 and Jackson Connelly nine.
Patton 38, Bunker Hill 32
Trailing by seven at the half, the JV Lady Panthers (4-5, 2-1 NWFAC) outscored the host Bears 18-7 in the third quarter and hung on for the win in their first action in 15 days. Haven Duckworth scored 15 points and Sydney Gonzales added 13 for Patton.
