The Freedom JV girls basketball team held rival Patton off the board in the first quarter and took a 17-8 lead into halftime before winning Tuesday’s nonconference home game, 38-30.

Amighty Walker led the JV Lady Patriots (2-0) with 18 points. Teammates Sarah Armentrout (seven) and Kaylee Ollis (six) combined to add 13 more.

The JV Lady Panthers (0-1) were paced by Haven Duckworth (nine), Danielle Wojcik (eight) and Kelsey Powell (seven).

 

JV BOYS

Freedom 65, Patton 19

The JV Patriots (2-0) took a running-clock win over the rival JV Panthers (0-2) in Tuesday’s nonconference win at home. Trey Ledford knocked down five 3-pointers en route to a game-high 20 points for Freedom. Keegan Clark added 12 points, Dyson Dellinger scored 11 and Nick Vincelli supplied eight in the victory. Destine Joseph (seven) and Zion Mull (six) led the way for Patton.

 

EB 62, W. Lincoln 31

The JV Cavaliers (1-2) picked up their first win of the season by doubling up the visiting JV Rebels in Tuesday’s nonconference action in Icard. Carter Crump (24 points), Christian Primm (14) and Austin Sellers (10) each hit double-digits for East Burke.

 

Draughn 50, S. Caldwell 39

The JV Wildcats (1-1) also claimed their first win Tuesday in Sawmills as a 15-7 third period left the margin around 10 most of the way down the stretch. Brayden Schutt led Draughn with 16 points and Luke Rector added 12 (11 in second half).
