EB wrestling 81, Liberty 24

ICARD — The East Burke Middle wrestling team dominated Liberty at home Monday, 81-24, to claim its second consecutive Foothills Athletic Conference match.

The Raiders (2-1 FAC) earned wins from Kane Miller (forfeit), Zach Ward (pin), Grayson Phillips (pin), Malachi Bines (pin), Zane Taylor (pin), Lincoln Pierce (pin), Sam Huffman (decision), Conner Mobley (pin), Danny Powell (pin), Joshua Hess (pin), Chris Moore (forfeit), Jacob Hodges (pin), Deegan Moore (pin) and Brady Bostain (pin).

The Knights (1-1 FAC) got victories from Noah Coffey, Luke Parker, Burke Wilson and Caleb Clark.

EB’s Phillips, Bines, Pierce, Mobley and Hess all remain undefeated individually on the season for EB, who visits unbeaten Table Rock on Thursday.

 

Table Rock 66, E. McDowell 42

The Falcons (2-0 FAC) notched another victory Monday, defeating East McDowell in Marion. TR’s winners included Xander Vue (forfeit), Trenton Walker (forfeit), Canyon Lance (pin), Will Grigg (pin), Kaylee Hardin (forfeit), Gavin Sweeny (forfeit), Cameron Uren (forfeit), Tristan Esquivel (forfeit), Ben Brockland (pin), Grayson Ragle (pin) and Blaze Cobb (forfeit).

 

BOYS BASKETBALL

Walter Johnson 47, W. McDowell 23

The host Yellow Jackets (2-1 FAC) won Monday thanks to big efforts from Amore Connelly (20 points, eight rebounds), Zion Thomas (14 points, five assists, six steals) and Elijah Davidson (team-high 15 rebounds).

 

Liberty 42, East Burke 28

The Knights (2-0 FAC) won Monday at home as Jake Perry led the way with 12 points and three steals while Bryson Handley added seven points and eight rebounds and Braxton Reinhardt had six points. The Raiders (0-3 FAC) were led by Zack Crawford’s five points, and Calvin Vue and Silas Coleman tacked on four each.

 

Table Rock 47, E. McDowell 29

The Falcons (2-0 FAC) stayed tied atop the league after Monday’s home win as Jackson Denton ended with a double-double to lead TR. The Falcons were also paced offensively by Justice Cunningham, Grant Martin and Jordan Watkins.

 

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Table Rock 33, E. McDowell 27

The Lady Falcons (2-0 FAC) were victorious at home Monday. Ava Whitaker led TR with 11 points, and teammates Peyton Caldwell scored eight and Haven Gladden and Statlee McGee five each.

 

East Burke 39, Liberty 18

The Lady Raiders (3-0 FAC) continued their march toward another title with Monday’s lopsided win in Morganton.  Braylen Stillwell scored 12 points and added two assists, Kassie Turner added 10 points with four rebounds, Ally Moore had six points and two assists and Cadence Robinson four points for EB, while individual statistics were not available for Liberty (0-2 FAC).
