MARION — The Burke County Post 21 Junior American Legion Lady Fastpitch softball team split with McDowell Post 56 on Wednesday night at Big League Camp, winning 14-4 before losing 3-0.

Post 21 (3-1) was led offensively on the evening Brianna Nations’ four hits including a double with two runs and two RBIs.

Adding three hits each were Katie Cozort (three runs, walk, RBI, SB), Grace Hammack (three runs, walk, RBI), Mikhayla Lingafelt (run), Maddison Powell (RBI, run) and Hailey Snodgrass (double, run, two RBIs).

Taylor Bostain (three RBIs, two walks, run) tallied two hits, and Bridget Patrick (5 IP, 4 H, 3 BB, 2 K) earned the win in game one with Lingafelt and Maddie Crouch pitching the second game.

Lingafelt and Patrick earned complete-game wins from the circle the day before as Post 21 defeated host Hickory 7-2 and 5-2.

Nations had a team-best four hits in Tuesday’s doubleheader as well, and Madilynn Taylor’s three-run triple was the difference in game two.
