COLUMBIA, S.C. — According to a report by SB Nation’s Tar Heel Blog, Seventh Woods is transferring to South Carolina.
The guard announced the move on Instagram on Friday, six weeks after he used the same social media platform to announce he was leaving North Carolina. He departs the Tar Heels to return to his hometown of Columbia where he will play his senior season with the Gamecocks after sitting out one year.
Woods appeared in 94 games with North Carolina over the past three seasons, including one start. He averaged 8.7 minutes per game with 1.8 points, 1.5 assists and 1.1 rebounds per contest. He shot 34.8 percent from the floor and 24 percent from beyond the arc as a Tar Heel.
His junior season this past winter was his best as he got his lone career start versus UNC-Wilmington and set a career-high with 14 points in a win over Gonzaga. He set career-high marks with 2.5 points and 2.1 assists in 10.8 minutes per game.
Under seventh-year head coach Frank Martin, the Gamecocks went 16-16 (11-7 SEC) a season ago, missing the NCAA Tournament for a second-straight year after a Final Four berth in 2017.
