FAYETTEVILLE — Burke County prep hoops fans nearly saw D'Marco Dunn in action, but this year’s 3A boys state championship game between Freedom and Dunn’s Fayetteville Westover squad was canceled.

Locals may still get their fair share of 6-foot-4, 180-pound rising senior before it’s all said and done.

Dunn garnered a scholarship offer from Roy Williams and North Carolina on Sunday, 247Sports reports.

This past season was Dunn’s first at Westover after his family relocated from Tucson, Ariz., according to 247, who rates him as the No. 90 overall player in the class of 2021.

He led the undefeated Wolverines with per-game averages of 20.8 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.8 steals, according to MaxPreps, shooting 45 percent from the 3-point line and being named to the AP all-state squad last week.

UNC so far has just one 2021 commitment, from Kinston forward Dontrez Styles.
