VALDESE — It required an early comeback, but four home runs turned things around for the Valdese No. 1 pee wee baseball team as it defeated Glen Alpine 10-4 at McGalliard Falls Park on Thursday to complete a 10-0 season.
Trailing by three runs in the bottom of the second, Cayden Williams and Ian Meadows led off with singles before coming home off a Noah Hoyle home run.
The Tigers scored two more runs in the third and five in the fourth to complete the win with Meadows, Lathan McManus, and Nolan Russ credited with inside-the-park home runs. Meadows added a fourth-inning triple to finish 3 for 3 with three runs scored.
Noah Clark (2 for 3, double, RBI), Madden Kennedy (2 for 2, run) and Luke Duncan (2 for 2, run) were other key hitters for Valdese.
Glen Alpine was led at the plate by Zair Saljas (3 for 3, RBI), James Padgett (3 for 3, triple, RBI), Caylen Taylor (2 for 3, double, run) and Eli Tate (2 for 3, HR, two runs).
